Hi,
I'm a 3rd year student at Lancaster Theological Seminary, PA, working on my Masters of Divinity.
I was raised Catholic, left the church as a teenager, and was an atheist for almost thirty years. When my spiritual journey as an adult started, I first explored earth-centered celebrations and ceremonies; but eventually ended up with a philosophy of life that is closest to Buddhism.
As a Unitarian Universalist, I am meeting people of many religious backgrounds. I want to learn as much as possible about other faith traditions; as a minister, I will put great emphasis on Interfaith activities, because I believe that this is the only way to get closer to a more peaceful world....
I am interested and curious about this 'community'. As a Universalist, I believe in inspiration from many sources; as a Unitarian, I believe they are all the same source. I look forward to learning from others.
I am a public health nurse working with moms and medically fragile babies in urban poverty, many Spanish-speaking immigrants among them. I am honored to be allowed into people's homes and lives.
I love and am restored by nature and many kinds of music. My hope is that the more we know of each other, the more understanding and love we can spread, despite the polarizing political attitude of my world-dominating country....
I began my studies of world religions and social justice at the University of Chicago, with special attention to Christianity and its relationship with other religions. I have worked in the full-time parish ministry and more recently in the business world. In years past I participated in the International Association for Religious Freedom and the International Religious Fellowship, attending international conferences and visiting members of member groups in eastern and western Europe. My published writings include a discussion guide to Huston Smith's book The Religions Of Man (published by the Unitarian Universalist Association, Boston), several analyses of human health conditions (Minnesota Department of Health), recommendations for a human group health index (US Public Health Reports), sermons (various churches and an Iowa City, Iowa, newspaper), Psychiatric Facilities And The Rights Of Patients (American Psychiatric Association's Hospital and Community Psychiatry journal). I now participate in the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, representing it in the Downtown Congregations' work with the Twin Cities Habitat For Humanity....
I am currently in seminary and will be ordained an Interfaith Minister in May, 2002. I remain open to where my ministry may best be put to use.
